Solstice

DSC_4794

The Solstice, the darkest day of the year, has been and gone. I spent the day nursing a cold, but drinking honey & thyme tea and reading books by lamplight seemed like an appropriate way to spend the day anyhow. Now the days slowly lengthen as if time has begun anew, we prepare ourselves to celebrate Christmas and the coming new year.

With only a few days left until Christmas, gifts have been (mostly) wrapped and placed under the tree. The gingerbread house has been built, paper snowflakes cut and pressed onto the walls. Cookies will be baked later on today, and a precious few days off of work begins. Sadly it seems as though I’ll be using those days to recover from this cold that seems like it might have turned into bronchitis.

I have books to read and tea to drink.
