Mikey’s dreaded cough has returned with a vengeance. He’s been so much better since he got his asthma diagnosis and medication, but still sometimes something will set him off and we have to ride it out. He caught a cold on Thanksgiving, which went to his chest and gave him a lingering cough. Sadly it seems that this has started a cycle where we think he’ll be recovering, and then he’ll catch another cold. And so on.
So today was supposed to be his last day of school before the Christmas break, but instead of having a fun pajama day at school with his friends he’s stuck home with me!
We decorated for Christmas last week. We bought our first full-sized tree and covered it with the ornaments we’ve collected over the years, a mish-mash of little trinkets from Germany, England, Chicago, and now a few things from our new home. I love pulling out the old ornaments every year, as well as our collection of Glühwein cups from the Heidelberg Christmas market.
We’re going to spend this last weekend before Christmas attempting to recover from this cold (yes, it seems that I may have caught it too!) camping out in the living room and making paper snowflakes.
And next week, in between Christmas movies and lots of reading (I picked up The VanderMeer Winter Mix Tape Bundle from Story Bundle last week and I’m excited to get started!), I’ll wrap the gifts and put them under our beautiful tree. I’ll throw a little music in there too (I’ve been listening to the Punkymoms Alternative Indie Christmas Playlist).
