On Monday this week, Mikey had a little field trip with his vovó. He had the best time and returned home late that afternoon completely exhausted from all of the fun he’d had. On Tuesday Mikey and I walked over 8 miles in total, running errands and doing little jobs. Errands take just a little bit more planning when you don’t have a car, even in the city where everything is closer together.
That’ll teach me to push all of our errands into a single day! When we returned home we sat to rest our tired legs and decided to work on a little art project for Earth Day.
We searched some old magazines that were headed for the recycling and pulled out pages that had blue and green. We tore the colours into little pieces and separated them into groups. I cut out a circle from some cardstock and Mikey drew on a rough design for where the oceans and land should go. We used glue to stick the magazine pices into the right places and then when we were finished I cut around the circle again to get rid of the rough edges.
Just a nice, quick little project for Earth Day. We talked a little while we were working, about recycling and how you can re-use old things to make something entirely different. Pages from our old magazines now have a new purpose as a piece of art that can go on our wall.
