Autumn colours look their most beautiful on those cloudy, dreary days. Bursts of yellow, orange and red framed against a moody grey sky.
I’m reminded of walking in the Odenwald, southwest of the Königstuhl in Heidelberg. We could see the hills from our apartment window and I would walk among the trees there regularly, sometimes bringing Mikey along with me and sometimes alone. One day I remember I had climbed what had seemed like endless steep steps and at the top there was a blanket of thick fog and only a few autumn leaves left clinging to branches. I suppose November marks the start of the small period of time where I miss Heidelberg the most.
