On Halloween we awoke to rain, the sky was dark for the entire walk to school. Mikey put on the costume he’d been excited to wear for weeks, Luigi from Super Mario Brothers, and with a few wet weather modifications (Luigi in a raincoat!) we walked to school, dodging the large puddles that were forming on the sidewalk.
After school had finished that afternoon the rain was still pouring down, perhaps worse than before, but we weren’t going to let it spoil any spooky fun we had planned. After locating umbrellas and boots we met up with Mikey’s best friend and began our trick or treating in the rain.
We passed some wonderful costumes, child and adult alike, as we walked the route we had planned. The rain began to stop as the light faded and we were able to see the Halloween decorations of the street in all their glory. The sidewalks were alive with ghosts, witches and ghouls of all sizes.
