Lilac/Flowers [Nurture Photography]

When we were in the planning stages for the Spring 2013 edition of the Nurture Photography Challenge, we had no idea that Spring would end up being so late in some parts of the U.S.

In Chicago, we are just beginning to see signs of sunshine. There are buds on the trees and late daffodils blooming in front yards, but not very much blossom to speak of yet. My wanderings around the neighbourhood revealed no lilac flowers, or much of anything lilac at all!

But of the flowers that are currently blooming we have a lovely mixture of purples, blues and whites so you’ll just have to bear with me and imagine the colours mixed together to create a pretty lilac.

    • Thank you 🙂

You know what, I actually have no idea what the flower is called. It’s planted outside a little art studio nearby to our apartment. I love walking past it every day though!

    • Isn’t it gorgeous out today? Loving it 🙂

It also took me a while to really find anything… luckily a nearby art studio has a lovely little planting area out front which is where I took most of these!

    • Right the second time, it is a hyacinth! I took a few photos of it actually, but the top down one seemed to work out the best 🙂

  1. Rebecca,
Even with the wild weather patterns I still think lilac and flowers are an important part of spring.

We had spring like temps yesterday and today. If this continues nature is about to come to life on the prairie!

  2. It really is a guessing game when it comes to Mother Nature. It certainly makes planning tough. But you’ve managed to find some lovely blooms. Really love the way you shot the purple flowers climbing up that wall. The lensbaby was the perfect choice!
