The sniffles invaded our home again last Friday evening. I have my fingers crossed that, as the cold wind dies down outside and the ice melts slowly away, this cold will be the last one of the season.
Mikey took Monday and Tuesday off of school to recover at home, an unintentionally long weekend. Sips of water between episodes of his favourite cartoons. His daddy has come down with the cold too, so they’ve both been snuggling beneath blankets for long naps in an effort to recover quickly.
When I called his preschool on Tuesday to let them know that he was still sick, his teacher gave me his lines for the little play that they will be doing at school on Friday afternoon. He has been so excited about it, telling me that he hopes he will be better in time for his play. The play is about the planets, the project they have been doing most recently at school. He is excited because he is playing the part of Earth, which he tells me is his favourite planet because it is where we all live. I reminded him of his lines for the play this morning, and for most of the day he has been repeating to himself,
“I am Earth
We live on Earth
The blue is water and the green is land”
Repeating the words slowly, under his breath. Occasionally he turns to me after reciting his lines and tells me, “The white is snow and clouds.” Not part of his lines, but information he thinks I should know regardless.
Don’t forget, I have an awesome giveaway going on at the moment.
