Grass/Green [Leap into Spring!]

I love the luscious green hues of Spring, they speak to me of growth and a clean newness. Of bulbs, roots and seeds waiting patiently underground, and of tree branches suddenly heavy, laden with blossom and delicate leaf buds. Last week’s Leap into Spring! Prompt was Rain/Water but we hadn’t had much in the way of rain by the time I had got to writing that post.

Of course this week it has been raining almost every day, the grass has been growing and everything green is just that much more beautiful for it. Mikey has been stomping along sidewalks in his rain boots, jumping in and out of puddles or stopping to examine leaves, sticks and any little creatures we find along the way.

And speaking of greenery, we’ve also been stocking up on some lovely fresh broccoli while it is in season! I posted a recipe earlier in the week for Oven Roasted Broccoli with Garlic, Lemon and Parmesan. It’s become one of our favourite ways to eat broccoli, at least until the weather starts to get too warm to use the oven, and it’s so quick and easy to make (not to mention delicious).

    • Actually, we did have some lovely sunshine over the past 2 days, interspersed with thunderstorms! But I wasn’t able to get out and shoot on either of those days sadly.

Did you get any of the hail last night? My son was enthralled with the idea of it “rain ice” lol.

  1. Luscious is a perfect way to describe green. Beautiful photos. Love the branches overhead and the raindrop covered leaves. And broccoli. How clever! If only I ate more green… maybe I’d have thought of that. 🙂

  4. Amy

I love these green shots! All fall and winter I just couldn’t wait for spring to get here! It seems the winter here in the midwest is so long and everything seems to stay in shades of gray. I longed to see green! Spring is here and that makes me a happy girl!
