Purple [Shades of Autumn Photo Challenge]

I’m not going to lie, finding purple was tough. Not just because we’ve been so busy this past week, the free time I’ve had to take photographs being failures because of the cold rain. I personally don’t mind going out in the rain to take photographs, but didn’t want to drag Mikey out with me for too long. But it’s also been tough because purple has been hard to find! The photos I did get lean a little more toward magenta than purple and I hope you’ll forgive me for that.
The time I did go out, and took these photos, I was hoping to come across things like beautiful deep purple berries and subtly purple-tinged grasses. On previous weeks I’d spotted some ornamental peas of some kind with beautiful purple pods, the plant tendrils winding themselves delicately around wrought iron railings. I made a mental note to come back for them, then never did. Now that I’m sitting down and writing this post, I’m thinking of other things that I could have photographed. A beautiful purple-grey cloche hat that I bought last month (that I did pin to my style board on Pinterest) that I haven’t yet had opportunity to wear and my most favourite tea mug that I photographed last year when we still lived in Germany, that sadly now has a small chip on the base.
Despite my lack of photos, I love purple and I’ve been looking forward to seeing what all of you have come up with this week! Yesterday Kristi, Alicia and I shared some of our favourites from last weeks colour, red. Don’t forget to take a look!

I’m teaming up with the lovely and talented Kristi of Live and Love Out Loud and Alicia of Project Alicia for the Shades of Autumn Photo Challenge – a colorfully inspiring autumn photography challenge aimed at capturing the beautiful shades of autumn.
Just a few details:

I think the bricks are a surprising find, I would’ve never thought of that! And as Carletta says, the texture is wonderful!
Thank you! I was a little surprised at the purple bricks too. I found them while out on a walk near to my apartment, thankfully I took a photo then, because only a few days after they began ripping some of them up to repair the street!
Purple was definitely a challenge. I love that top leaf pic.
Purple bricks, not that is a find! Great shots and great link up, Thank You, I am enjoying myself tremendously.

Thank you! I’m so happy to hear that you’re enjoying the challenge, Kristi, Alicia and I are sooo enjoying hosting it!
I had a hard time with purple too, I had to REALLLy look…some of mine are a bit on the magnetic side as well, but it was fun, I always enjoy a challenge!
Part of the fun I think is finding all of the different shades of the same colour. I’m certainly counting magenta as purple and I’ve also seen so many other beautiful shades that I hadn’t even thought of as I’ve been looking through all of the photos linked up
Ah, but what you DID find was captured beautifully!
I love the DoF of the purplish brick walkway.

Love your perspective!
You have an eye for photography so naturally you found purple where others wouldn’t think to find it. I had a hard time with purple, too. If we wouldn’t have had amazing sunrises and sunsets the last couple days I would have drawn a big blank.
You’re lucky you can have such a lovely view for sunrises and sunsets! I thought about doing that but discovered that we don’t have such a great view of the sky from our apartment, ah city living!
Love the pavers.

Brilliant photos! I love the Autumn leaf & miss those terribly since I moved north from Melbourne. I also love the brick pathway!!

I love those bricks! and the underside of the leaf. Even out walking yesterday I couldn’t find any purple……….. if I had been up higher in the highlands I might have found some purple scottish heather! But I did find some purple in the garden and I just wish I had time to do a post on it’s own just for the shades of Autumn as I had quite a few I could have added. Sadly time and a dreadful slow internet speed just now have mean’t that I’ve just put up one photo………. and my favourite photo taken last week.
These are all beautiful! Purple was a challenging color, but fun to search for.

I think you found some awesome purple shades. I also found it quite challenging! I love the leaf shots. No matter how they are photographed I can’t get enough of the fall leaves. I’m really enjoying this challenge, thanks for hosting!
