Mikey’s Birthday
We’ve been so busy around these parts over the past week! My parents arrived from England on Monday of last week for a long visit, then it was Mikey’s 4th birthday on Friday. So we’ve been running around seeing the sights of Chicago, as well as having birthday celebrations. For his birthday, we took Mikey to the Shedd Aquarium and then on the following Saturday we caught a train out to visit vovó and vovô, and have a party celebration with the family. I made a cake, best birthday cake from Smitten Kitchen, and although it doesn’t look as divine as Deb’s it still tasted pretty darn good.
The above photos really don’t do the birthday celebrations justice, but they’re a good enough example for taking a photograph to remember an event anyway, even if you don’t think the photograph will turn out that great. We all had a wonderful time and as you can see, Mikey also got a long overdue haircut.
We’ve been just as busy this week so far, I’ve been trying my hand at taking photos for the first week of the Shades of Autumn Photo Challenge as we adventure around Chicago. Oh, happy birthday sweet Mikey! I can’t believe he’s 4! How did he like the Shedd? I love that place! My class almost had our senior prom there, but we had it in the Sears Tower instead. I was pulling for the aquarium!
Looks like you guys are doing well. We miss you here though. Indy is always asking how Mikey is doing.
