Visions of Sugarplums

We’ve spent this past weekend and the days of this week getting everything ready for our last Christmas in Germany. Cookies have been baked, the house decorated with a mish-mash of decorations from 4 different countries, paper snowflakes cut from old discarded books, favourite Christmas films watched in pajamas and gifts carefully wrapped in paper, decorated with scraps of thrifted fabric. Our little tree is slightly haphazard, I raided my jewelery box for necklaces instead of tinsel and there are no lights on the tree itself, but I love it anyway.

Mikey and I managed to brave the slushy snow and rain on Tuesday morning to take a bus out to a little mall nearby. Just taking the bus anywhere is full of excitement for a little boy who is slightly obsessed with public transport. I grabbed a few last minute stocking fillers, including a large bag of pretty coloured marbles and I know once they have been strewn about the floor and I’m tripping on them in the middle of the night I’ll regret that decision.

Things have been a little strained around here, since our difficult news back in November, the new year may bring a lot of big changes for us. Now we’re just waiting.

I’m looking forward to spending a lazy day with my little family, cooking up our Christmas dinner and watching Mikey open his gifts. This is going to be all from me until after Christmas. I hope you all have a wonderful week and, if you celebrate it, a lovely Christmas.

Thank you for sharing your days, words and beautiful pictures with us again this year. I will miss seeing Germany :-( – it’s so beautiful – but will look forward to your pictures and stories of a new place next year.
Adventure awaits! May you seize the days to come in good health and cheer.

    • Thank you Leanne, merry Christmas to you and Lulu!

You’ve never put a blog link when you’ve commented before? I’m going to have to go over and have a nosey now :)

We will miss Germany too, but who knows where we’ll end up?! I think it’s going to be strange for Mikey, we moved here when he was 9 months old so he doesn’t know anything any different. But I think he’ll be happy as long as we’re somewhere with trains and buses 😀

  3. Love it, love it love it! And I read your post about change coming; I like how you left off with it being a good thing amidst all the mess. A beautiful way to put it really.

Wishing you a wonderful holiday, lots of rest, and thanks too. I really like your blog.

    • Thank you!

The change is going to be difficult if/when it comes. But this time next year we’ll be able to look back and laugh! Sorry for being so cryptic about it, I will be able to reveal more when the time comes, but for now I don’t want to jinx anything!

LOVE the edits you used on all of these .. its GORGEOUS. I’ve been experimenting around myself in cs5 but haven’t really discovered anything i like that I can do MYSELF but these are great!

    • I don’t have CS5, I’m not even sure I’d be able to use it if I did! I muted the colours in these and faded them out by playing around in the exposure options. I don’t really know what I’m doing with photoshop most of the time though!
