Sunday Scavenger Hunt

Pink: Mikey drawing with pink chalk on the playground, while the low Autumn sun shines a pinkish cast. It’s quite difficult to find anything pink in a household where I am outnumbered 2 to 1.

Books: Remnants of a quiet Saturday morning spent reading in bed. “Tootle” and Teddy enjoy being read to by Mikey and getting cuddles under soft blankets.

Fall Colours: Mikey painting leaves we collected, with red, yellow and orange paint. They’re now glued onto the paper and take pride of place on the wall in the diningroom.

On Friday Mikey and I kept our travels fairly close to home, playing in the playground and collecting leaves from the shared yard to paint with. On Saturday I managed to get some furniture work done, sanding down an old side table and getting it ready for paint, a project that has been sitting in our spare bedroom for months and needs to be finished. I tried some stain but it didn’t work out, so I’m thinking about painting it antique white. It was originally a strange cherry red colour and was given to us when we were first married and had no furniture of our own, but now it doesn’t really match anything else in the house.

It was a beautiful day, so after working on that in the basement I managed to grab some quiet time outside, digging over my vegetable garden. I’m thinking about using the garden now to create some sort of Halloween/Autumn display until I’m ready to plant something new. Because in all likelihood we wont be here to enjoy a harvest next year I am considering turning it into a flower garden with lots of Spring flowers.

Today is another beautiful, quiet Autumn day and we’re considering taking a walk up the mountain we can see from our livingroom window. Did you know that almost everything is closed on a Sunday in Germany? There are no errands to run, no shopping to be done, just family time.
