A reminder of prettier days

A photo taken only ten days ago, a reminder to me that only a short time ago in our little corner of Germany the skies were blue, the sun was shining, leaves were golden and the air was crisp. This morning I woke at 9am, after staying up until 3am last night watching cartoons with a little boy who couldn’t sleep.

At 9am the sky was still dark, thick grey clouds covering every inch. It is wet, cold and miserable outside, this morning the contractors are mowing the grass of our shared yard, throwing up mud and mashing up all of the leaves that have fallen. They choose the strangest days to do the yard work and now around one of the trees outside instead of grass and leaves there is a large patch of mud. I am warm and toasty in the house at least, drinking my coffee with a splash of cream, a little indulgence to help brighten an otherwise dreary day. It’s quite tempting to just go outside with Mikey to jump in the mud anyway.

Yesterday I was delighted to discover that the above photograph of mine had been chosen for one of the top 5 for the theme ‘Light’ over at Simplicity. You can click here to go over there to see the other entries, vote for your favourite and join the current photo challenge if you like.

  1. Congratulations on your photo finishes! I especially love the first photo. It’s so calming and peaceful. I’d love to jump right in the photo and stay there a while! 🙂 Thanks for sharing. Happy Wednesday!

  2. Very serene and peace providing pics… Loved the soft textures in the second one…

  3. The seasons move so quickly in Germany. It’s already dark and grey here and I’m reminded that it stayed like this (just got colder) for four months last year. sigh. I will find some happy things about being inside.
